Soon afterward, the FDA issued a general warning about the risk of tissue overheating during use of such systems, owing to inaccurate magnetic resonance thermometry. To address the problem, the manufacturers provided guidance to users, and Monteris obtained 510(k) clearance for a fiber-optic-controlled, cooling-equipped laser probe.
